In my attempts to simplify the day-to-day tasks in my life as much as possible, meal planning is essential. If you follow along with the site, you know that I am a little
obsessed with sous vide cooking as of late and I saw several ways that I could utilize this method to help me save time. While I think sous vide is best at
preparing gourmet quality dishes, there are many other advantages.
If you aren't a foodie or you are, but also need a quick form of cooking, you may think that sous vide is not the best fit.
However, one thing I have figured out with this method, that you can't really do with the slow cooker or pressure cooker, is that you can cook multiple meals at once.
One big caveat is that the dishes you are preparing have to require the same cooking temperature. With meat this is trickier, but any veggie-style
dish works great. For some of these dishes, I will add rotisserie chicken or other pre-cooked meat after, to mix it up.
My approach was to convert as many recipes as I could to this method; I am sharing 10 with you here. They are all technically vegetarian and cook at the vegetable
temperature of 185F, but
as I said you can add cooked meat when the dish is done as a finishing step.
3 meals at once is a good limit for my system, but for this set of 10 I actually made all in one day.
I prepped and bagged everything and then
cycled three bags into the water bath at a time, put them in the fridge after cooking and then did a quick re-heat on the stove when we were ready to eat them or boxed
them for lunches - lunch and dinner for one week in a day - score! I have also included the traditional cooking instructions if you are just looking for a list
of vegetarian recipes!
